With more than 17,000 runners and an estimated 50,000 total attendees, Boulderthon has grown into one of the largest marathon weekends in the country. Approximately 35% of Boulderthon participants travel from outside Colorado, creating an opportunity to introduce runners, families, and spectators to Boulder’s restaurants, cafés, breweries, shops, and cultural institutions.
That’s why Boulderthon is launching a citywide perks pilot in 2026 to extend the race experience beyond the finish line and into the community.
We want runners to explore Boulder, support local businesses, and make a weekend of it.
With 17,000+ runners, approximately 50,000 total attendees and thousands of visitors traveling into Boulder for the weekend, the goal is to spread that economic activity throughout downtown and beyond.
Rather than keeping runners inside a single post-race footprint, Boulderthon is encouraging participants and their families to eat, drink, shop and explore throughout the city
The result is a race experience that feels more connected to Boulder while creating more opportunities for local businesses to benefit from one of the largest marathon weekends in the country.
