Welcome to Boulderthon.
This Participant Agreement, Terms & Conditions, Event Policies, Assumption of Risk, Waiver and Release of Liability (the “Agreement“) governs registration for and participation in all races, events, expos, packet pickup activities, training runs, volunteer activities, community events, and other programs organized, operated, or authorized by Stronger Faster Boulder Co. (“SFB”), doing business as Boulderthon (“Boulderthon,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
This Agreement applies to every individual who registers for, participates in, volunteers at, attends, or otherwise takes part in an Event, including, where applicable, parents, legal guardians, spectators participating in organized activities, contractors, vendors, sponsors, exhibitors, and guests.
By registering for, participating in, attending, volunteering at, or otherwise taking part in an Event, you acknowledge that you have carefully read, understand, and agree to be legally bound by this Agreement.
If you do not agree to these terms, you should not register for or participate in any Boulderthon Event.
Boulderthon exists to create extraordinary endurance experiences that celebrate athletic achievement, strengthen community, and create lasting impact.
Every participant, volunteer, sponsor, resident, business, community partner, and public agency contributes to making Boulderthon possible.
Our commitment is to provide a safe, inclusive, professionally operated event that reflects our core values of Endurance. Community. Impact.
This Agreement establishes the policies, responsibilities, and legal protections necessary to preserve participant safety, promote fair competition, protect the integrity of the Event, and ensure an exceptional experience for everyone involved.
For purposes of this Agreement, the following definitions apply:
Agreement means this Boulderthon Participant Agreement, Terms & Conditions, Event Policies, Assumption of Risk, Waiver and Release of Liability, including all appendices and policies incorporated by reference.
Event means any race, run, walk, expo, packet pickup, volunteer activity, training run, festival, community event, or other activity organized, operated, or authorized by SFB.
Participant means every registered athlete, volunteer, parent, guardian, guest, spectator participating in an organized activity, contractor, vendor, exhibitor, sponsor representative, or other individual participating in or attending an Event to the extent applicable.
Official Race Rules means all published race rules, athlete guides, safety policies, course instructions, volunteer directions, and Event communications issued by SFB.
Race Weekend means all official Boulderthon activities beginning with packet pickup and concluding with the completion of all Event activities.
Registration Platform means the official online registration provider designated by SFB, currently Let’s Do This.
Refund Protect means the optional registration refund protection product offered during registration and administered exclusively by Refundable.me under its own terms and conditions.
Elite Athlete Rules and Standards means Boulderthon’s published eligibility requirements, prize money rules, competition standards, anti-doping requirements, verification procedures, and any other policies governing elite athlete participation.
Released Parties has the meaning assigned in Section 14 of this Agreement.
Capitalized terms not otherwise defined shall have their ordinary meaning within the context of this Agreement.
Participants must satisfy all eligibility requirements established for their registered Event.
Participants under eighteen (18) years of age must be registered by a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to this Agreement on the Participant’s behalf and accepts responsibility for ensuring compliance with all applicable Event rules and policies.
SFB reserves the right to establish minimum age requirements for individual race distances or Event activities.
Participant agrees to provide complete, accurate, and current registration information.
Providing false, misleading, incomplete, or fraudulent information, registering under another person’s identity, or otherwise misrepresenting registration information may result in immediate cancellation of registration without refund.
Participants are responsible for maintaining current contact and emergency contact information through race weekend.
Official registration for Boulderthon Events is conducted only through the Registration Platform designated by SFB.
Registration through unauthorized channels does not guarantee participation and may be rejected or cancelled without notice.
Submission of a registration request does not guarantee acceptance.
SFB reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject, revoke, suspend, or cancel any registration before or after acceptance for any lawful reason, including but not limited to:
suspected fraud;
payment disputes or chargebacks;
inaccurate registration information;
violation of this Agreement;
participant safety concerns;
previous violations of Boulderthon policies;
abusive, threatening, or discriminatory conduct toward participants, volunteers, staff, contractors, vendors, sponsors, residents, or public officials.
Registration fees include only those items expressly identified during the registration process. Any optional purchases, merchandise, donations, premium experiences, insurance products, or additional services selected by the Participant will be separately identified at the time of purchase.
SFB reserves the right to modify registration pricing, participant capacity, promotional offers, merchandise availability, payment plan options, and registration deadlines at any time prior to completion of registration.
Once a registration has been completed and accepted by SFB, the Participant’s registration fee shall be governed by this Agreement.
Except as expressly provided in this Agreement or as otherwise required by applicable law, all registrations are final and non-refundable.
SFB does not issue refunds for any reason, including but not limited to:
Injury or illness;
Scheduling conflicts;
Changes in personal circumstances;
Training-related issues;
Travel interruptions or delays;
Weather conditions;
Wildfire smoke or poor air quality;
Event modifications;
Participant dissatisfaction;
Failure to participate; or
Any other circumstance affecting the Participant’s ability or decision to participate.
Participant acknowledges that registration reserves a limited entry in the Event and that SFB incurs significant planning and operational costs in reliance upon each registration.
Participants who purchase Refund Protect during registration may be eligible to submit a reimbursement request directly to Refundable.me, subject exclusively to Refundable.me’s Terms and Conditions.
SFB:
does not administer Refund Protect;
does not evaluate or determine claim eligibility;
does not approve or deny claims;
does not process claim payments; and
assumes no responsibility for decisions made by Refundable.me.
Questions regarding Refund Protect should be directed to Refundable.me in accordance with its published procedures.
If offered by SFB, Participants may transfer their registration to another individual only through Boulderthon’s official participant transfer process.
Transfers are subject to:
availability;
verification of participant information;
published transfer deadlines;
payment of the applicable processing fee; and
any additional requirements established by SFB.
The current transfer fee is Thirty-Five Dollars ($35.00 USD) and is subject to change without prior notice.
Registrations may not be sold, assigned, gifted, auctioned, exchanged, or otherwise transferred outside Boulderthon’s official transfer process.
Unauthorized transfers may result in:
cancellation of both registrations;
disqualification;
forfeiture of awards or prize eligibility;
removal from the Event; and
denial of future participation.
If offered by SFB, Participants may request to defer their registration to a future Boulderthon Event in accordance with the published Deferral Policy.
Deferrals:
are subject to availability;
require payment of the applicable deferral fee;
must be requested before the published deadline;
are subject to verification by SFB; and
may be limited to one future Event unless otherwise approved by SFB.
Deferral fees and eligibility requirements are subject to change from year to year.
A deferred registration has no cash value and may not be redeemed for a refund.
SFB may, in its sole discretion, offer installment payment plans for certain registrations.
Payment plans:
may consist of two (2) to four (4) installments;
must be paid in full before race day;
may include applicable processing fees;
may be modified or discontinued by SFB at any time.
Failure to complete all required payments may result in cancellation of registration without refund.
To preserve the integrity of the Event and protect Participants, SFB reserves the right to investigate suspected fraudulent registrations.
Fraudulent activity includes, but is not limited to:
duplicate registrations;
use of stolen or unauthorized payment methods;
intentional chargebacks;
false participant identities;
unauthorized resale of registrations;
creation of multiple participant accounts;
misuse of promotional pricing; or
any attempt to circumvent Boulderthon registration policies.
SFB may cancel affected registrations without refund and may prohibit individuals involved in fraudulent activity from participating in future Boulderthon Events.
Every Participant shares responsibility for maintaining a safe, respectful, and enjoyable Event environment.
Participant agrees to:
comply with this Agreement;
comply with all Official Race Rules;
follow lawful instructions from SFB, race officials, volunteers, medical personnel, law enforcement agencies, public safety personnel, and authorized Event representatives;
conduct themselves in a safe and sportsmanlike manner at all times.
Failure to comply may result in disqualification, removal from the Event, forfeiture of awards, denial of future participation, or other disciplinary action determined by SFB.
Boulderthon is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone involved in the Event.
Participants shall not:
harass, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate against others;
use abusive or offensive language;
intentionally interfere with another Participant;
damage Event property or public property;
disregard lawful instructions from Event personnel;
engage in conduct that compromises participant safety or the integrity of the Event.
SFB reserves the right to remove any Participant whose conduct, in its sole judgment, is inconsistent with the values or safe operation of Boulderthon.
Each Participant must wear only the official Boulderthon race bib assigned to them.
Participants may not:
duplicate or alter a race bib;
compete using another Participant’s bib;
permit another individual to compete using their assigned bib;
participate using an unofficial or counterfeit bib.
Only registrations transferred through Boulderthon’s official transfer process shall be recognized.
Unauthorized bib transfers may result in immediate disqualification and permanent ineligibility for future Boulderthon Events.
Participants are expected to compete responsibly and courteously.
Participants shall:
remain on the official course;
yield immediately to emergency personnel;
obey directions from course marshals and volunteers;
avoid unnecessary obstruction of the course;
dispose of waste responsibly in accordance with Section 7.
Participants leaving the official course without authorization or gaining an unfair competitive advantage may be disqualified.
The use of headphones and personal audio devices is permitted but strongly discouraged.
Participants choosing to use such devices remain solely responsible for maintaining awareness of:
emergency vehicles;
race officials;
volunteers;
course instructions;
public safety announcements;
fellow Participants.
SFB reserves the right to prohibit personal audio devices in specific competition categories or where required by governing body rules.
Strollers are permitted only in the Boulderthon 5K and 10K Events.
Participants using strollers must:
begin at the rear of the starting field or within any designated stroller corral;
maintain complete control of the stroller at all times;
exercise additional caution around other Participants;
operate the stroller in a safe and courteous manner.
Strollers are prohibited in all other Boulderthon Events unless expressly authorized by SFB.
Only trained service animals, as recognized under applicable law, are permitted to participate in the Event.
Pets, emotional support animals, therapy animals, and other non-service animals are prohibited on the course.
Unless expressly authorized by SFB, Participants may not use:
bicycles;
e-bikes;
scooters;
skateboards;
inline skates;
hoverboards;
drones;
motorized vehicles; or
other equipment that may interfere with the safe operation of the Event.
Adaptive athletic equipment approved by SFB or required by applicable law is permitted.
Boulderthon is committed to promoting fair competition, participant safety, and the integrity of every Event.
Participant agrees to compete honestly, responsibly, and in accordance with this Agreement, the Official Race Rules, and all applicable Event policies.
Any action that compromises the fairness, safety, or integrity of the Event may result in disciplinary action as determined by SFB.
Without limitation, the following conduct is prohibited:
Course cutting or intentionally leaving the official course to gain a competitive advantage;
Receiving unauthorized pacing, transportation, or outside assistance;
Participating under another individual’s registration or race bib;
Allowing another individual to participate using an assigned race bib;
Tampering with timing equipment or official race results;
Providing false qualifying information;
Interfering with another Participant’s performance;
Intentionally violating Official Race Rules.
SFB reserves the right to investigate suspected rule violations before or after the Event.
Official race timing shall be determined exclusively by Boulderthon’s designated timing provider.
Official race results, placements, qualifying performances, awards, and prize eligibility shall be based solely upon official timing records maintained by SFB.
GPS watches, fitness trackers, mobile applications, and other personal timing devices are not official timing systems and shall not supersede official race results.
Only Participants who:
are officially registered;
complete the Event using their assigned race bib;
comply with this Agreement;
comply with the Official Race Rules; and
satisfy all eligibility requirements
shall be eligible for awards, age-group recognition, course records, prize money, or other competitive recognition.
Participants competing for prize money or elite awards must additionally comply with the Boulderthon Elite Athlete Rules and Standards, including all eligibility, verification, anti-doping, prize claim, and competition requirements established by SFB.
Prize money shall be distributed by Automated Clearing House (ACH) payment following verification of official results and participant eligibility.
SFB reserves the right to delay payment while reviewing:
official results;
timing discrepancies;
eligibility;
anti-doping matters;
protests;
rule violations; or
any other matter affecting prize eligibility.
Official race results shall not be considered final until certified by SFB.
To protect participant safety and preserve the integrity of the Event, SFB reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to:
disqualify Participants;
remove Participants from the course;
withhold awards or prize money pending investigation;
revoke awards after the Event;
deny future registrations;
modify official results.
Decisions made by SFB regarding race operations, participant eligibility, awards, and official results shall be final.
Boulderthon is proud to showcase the extraordinary natural beauty of Boulder, Colorado.
Participants, volunteers, spectators, vendors, sponsors, and partners share responsibility for protecting the parks, neighborhoods, trails, open spaces, and public lands that make Boulderthon possible.
SFB embraces a Leave No Trace philosophy and encourages all Event participants to minimize their environmental impact throughout race weekend.
Participant agrees to:
Dispose of cups, bottles, nutrition wrappers, and other waste in designated receptacles or official litter zones whenever practical;
Respect public and private property;
Avoid intentionally damaging landscaping, vegetation, wildlife habitat, trails, fences, or other natural resources;
Follow environmental guidance provided by SFB or public officials;
Help preserve Boulder for future participants and the community.
SFB recognizes that endurance events are dynamic environments and that Participants may occasionally miss designated waste receptacles while safely competing.
Accordingly, this policy is intended to discourage intentional littering and environmentally harmful conduct, not to penalize inadvertent disposal occurring during normal race participation.
Intentional littering, vandalism, or environmental damage may result in disqualification, removal from the Event, denial of future participation, or other disciplinary action as determined by SFB.
SFB is committed to delivering the Event substantially as advertised. However, participant safety, operational considerations, permitting requirements, public safety needs, and environmental conditions may require modifications before or during the Event.
Accordingly, SFB reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify any aspect of the Event, including:
race distance;
course configuration;
start or finish locations;
wave assignments;
start times;
participant limits;
aid station locations;
packet pickup procedures;
shuttle operations;
festival activities;
entertainment;
awards ceremonies; and
any other operational component of the Event.
Such modifications shall not constitute cancellation of the Event and shall not entitle Participants to refunds or other compensation except as expressly provided in this Agreement.
Participant acknowledges that Boulderthon is conducted in an outdoor environment where conditions may change rapidly.
SFB continuously monitors weather, environmental conditions, public safety guidance, and operational risks before and during the Event.
Conditions that may affect Event operations include, but are not limited to:
extreme heat or cold;
rain, snow, hail, or ice;
lightning;
high winds;
flooding;
wildfire smoke;
poor air quality;
reduced visibility;
road hazards;
public health emergencies; and
other unforeseen conditions affecting participant safety.
SFB may, in its sole discretion, delay, shorten, suspend, postpone, modify, or cancel all or part of the Event whenever conditions present an unreasonable risk to Participants, volunteers, spectators, Event personnel, or the public.
No specific Air Quality Index (AQI), weather condition, or environmental threshold shall obligate SFB to proceed with, modify, or cancel the Event.
All decisions regarding Event operations remain solely within the discretion of SFB.
SFB shall not be liable for Event modifications, delays, postponements, or cancellations resulting from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, severe weather, wildfire, smoke, government orders, public health emergencies, terrorism, civil unrest, utility failures, labor disputes, construction, road closures, or other force majeure events.
Each Participant is solely responsible for determining whether they are physically capable of safely participating in the Event.
Participants are encouraged to consult a qualified healthcare provider before participating if they have any medical condition that may affect their ability to safely complete the Event.
Participants authorize SFB, Event medical personnel, emergency responders, and their designees to evaluate, stabilize, treat, transport, and obtain emergency medical care on the Participant’s behalf if the Participant becomes injured, ill, unconscious, or otherwise unable to communicate.
Participants authorize emergency medical personnel to share relevant medical information as reasonably necessary for treatment and to contact the Participant’s designated emergency contact.
All medical expenses remain the sole responsibility of the Participant.
SFB, Event medical personnel, or authorized race officials may remove any Participant from the Event if continuing participation presents a risk to the Participant or others.
Such decisions are final and made solely in the interest of participant safety.
SFB is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive Event experience.
Participants requiring reasonable accommodations are encouraged to contact support@boulderthon.org as early as practicable before race weekend so that SFB may evaluate accommodation requests and work collaboratively with Participants to facilitate meaningful participation where reasonably possible.
Requests submitted immediately before or during race weekend may limit the accommodations that can reasonably be provided.
Boulderthon exists because of the support of thousands of volunteers, residents, businesses, sponsors, public agencies, community organizations, and local partners.
Participant agrees to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on Boulderthon and the running community.
Participants shall:
treat all individuals with courtesy and respect;
follow lawful directions issued by Event personnel;
respect neighborhoods, businesses, parks, trails, and public spaces;
avoid conduct that disrupts Event operations or diminishes the experience of others.
Participants engaging in abusive, threatening, discriminatory, intimidating, or otherwise disruptive conduct may be removed from the Event, disqualified, denied future participation, or subject to additional disciplinary action determined by SFB.
The Participant acknowledges that participation in endurance running events, road races, expos, packet pickup activities, volunteer activities, and all related Event activities is inherently hazardous and involves risks that cannot be completely eliminated.
The Participant knowingly and voluntarily accepts and assumes all risks associated with participation in the Event, whether known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated, foreseeable or unforeseeable.
Such risks include, without limitation:
physical exertion and fatigue;
dehydration or overhydration;
heat illness or hypothermia;
cardiac events, stroke, seizure, or other medical emergencies;
falls, slips, trips, collisions, or loss of balance;
uneven pavement, sidewalks, curbs, trails, gravel, potholes, bridges, construction zones, and other surface conditions;
contact with vehicles, bicycles, emergency vehicles, volunteers, spectators, participants, animals, or wildlife;
weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, hail, lightning, high winds, smoke, and poor air quality;
altitude and other environmental conditions;
food, hydration products, and nutritional supplements distributed during the Event;
equipment malfunction;
negligent acts or omissions of other participants or third parties; and
all other risks normally associated with outdoor endurance events.
The Participant understands that these risks may result in serious bodily injury, permanent disability, illness, emotional distress, property damage, or death.
The Participant represents that they are physically capable of safely participating in the Event.
The Participant understands that SFB has not evaluated the Participant’s physical condition and makes no representation regarding the Participant’s fitness to participate.
The Participant accepts sole responsibility for determining whether participation is appropriate based upon their health, training, physical condition, and medical advice.
Participation in the Event is voluntary.
The Participant freely chooses to participate with full knowledge of the risks described in this Agreement and accepts personal responsibility for those risks.
To the fullest extent permitted by Colorado law, the Participant, on behalf of themselves and their heirs, executors, administrators, personal representatives, successors, and assigns, hereby releases, waives, and forever discharges Stronger Faster Boulder Co. (“SFB”), d/b/a Boulderthon, together with its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, contractors, sponsors, vendors, exhibitors, timing providers, municipalities, public agencies, property owners, law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, medical providers, insurers, and all other persons or entities involved in planning, organizing, sponsoring, supporting, or conducting the Event (collectively, the “Released Parties“) from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, damages, losses, causes of action, costs, expenses, or attorneys’ fees arising out of or related to participation in the Event, except where such liability cannot be waived under applicable law.
The Participant agrees not to bring, maintain, or assist in any legal claim against any Released Party arising from participation in the Event except where prohibited by applicable law.
The Participant agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, judgments, settlements, costs, or expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from:
the Participant’s acts or omissions;
violation of this Agreement;
misuse or unauthorized transfer of a race bib;
damage to persons or property;
claims brought by third parties resulting from the Participant’s conduct.
Boulderthon is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event.
Accordingly, Participants shall also be required to accept the current official USA Track & Field Waiver and Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement, attached as Appendix B.
In the event of any conflict between this Agreement and mandatory language required by USA Track & Field, the mandatory USATF language shall govern solely to the extent necessary to maintain sanctioning requirements.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
Participation in the Event is undertaken solely at the Participant’s own risk.
SFB makes no warranty that the Event will occur exactly as advertised or without interruption.
SFB shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, exemplary, or special damages arising from participation in the Event or use of Boulderthon’s website.
SFB assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.
Decisions regarding Event safety, participant eligibility, official timing, awards, race operations, and Event modifications remain within the sole discretion of SFB.
Nothing contained in this Agreement shall limit liability where such limitation is prohibited by law.
All Boulderthon names, logos, trademarks, service marks, race artwork, medal designs, apparel designs, publications, photographs, videos, graphics, website content, marketing materials, and other intellectual property remain the exclusive property of SFB or its licensors.
Nothing contained in this Agreement grants the Participant any ownership or license rights in Boulderthon intellectual property except as expressly authorized in writing by SFB.
The Boulderthon website is provided solely for informational, registration, and participant communication purposes.
Users agree not to:
misuse the website;
interfere with website operations;
access systems without authorization;
upload malicious software;
scrape or reproduce website content;
violate applicable law through use of the website.
SFB reserves the right to suspend or terminate website access for violations of these Terms.
SFB collects and uses participant information for purposes including:
Event registration;
participant communications;
emergency response;
race timing and results;
customer service;
legal compliance;
Event administration.
Registration and payment processing are performed in part through designated third-party providers, including Let’s Do This.
Participant acknowledges that third-party providers maintain their own privacy policies governing information collected through their services.
SFB will take commercially reasonable measures to safeguard participant information but cannot guarantee absolute security.
This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any legal action arising out of or relating to this Agreement or the Event shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located within Colorado.
If any provision of this Agreement is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Failure by SFB to enforce any provision of this Agreement shall not constitute a waiver of any right.
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the Participant and SFB concerning participation in the Event.
Electronic acceptance of this Agreement shall have the same legal force and effect as a handwritten signature.
SFB may amend this Agreement from time to time. The version in effect on the date of the applicable Event shall govern unless otherwise required by law.
All provisions relating to releases, waivers, indemnification, limitation of liability, dispute resolution, intellectual property, and other provisions that by their nature should survive shall survive completion, cancellation, or termination of the Event.

Participants are responsible for reviewing the Annual Event Policies applicable to the Event for which they register.
